Kathy K7KJB

Hello to all of our terrific volunteers!

It’s been a while since we last emailed everyone.  Most of our posts go onto our Facebook page – it is VERY active and has a lot of great information shared by many of our volunteers.  If you haven’t already I highly suggest you go check it out and ask to be a member – it will keep you up to date on all the latest and greatest things going on in the Carnation-Duvall Citizen Corps, CERT and Medical Reserve Corps at this link:

Have you seen our NEW WEBSITE?  Thanks to Rowland Brasch for the many hours of hard work he put into it to develop a site that is user friendly and has great info.  It also has a much shorter address – you can find it at  Check it out!

CERT Quarterly Meeting:  Did you miss the last CERT quarterly meeting?  If so, you missed out learning all about Family Radio Service (FRS) Radios and radio communications by our oh-so-knowledgeable SnoVARC reps Dan Pflugrath and Tom Needham.  We got to practice giving and receiving messages, as well as protocols for doing so.  It was leading up the CERT Communications exercise and Pizza Feed held on March 12th.  As lead by Tom Needham, this exercise allowed CERTs to work with HAM Radio operators, using their new Communications Center located above the Carnation City Hall.  Such a great day and great learning experience by all who participated.  And GREAT Blake’s pizza!

Our next CERT Quarterly meeting will be held:

Date: Thursday, April 28

When: 6:30-8 pm

Where: Carnation Library

Join us as we lead a discussion regarding Earthquake Preparedness.  We look forward to organizing a Table Top Exercise in August and hold our all-out drill in September around this topic.  We encourage you to bring any special “Earthquake Proofing” ideas or supplies you carry in your kit or at home to share with the group.  As always, those in attendance will receive a “goodie” from us to add to your kits.
