A LOOK BEHIND THE SCENE OF AN EMERGENCY:  This is the last call to see inside the heart of King County Emergency Operations at a tour of the King County Office of Emergency Management facility in Renton on Wednesday, April 28th at 6 p.m.   We will be carpooling from the Duvall Safeway Parking lot at 5 p.m., or you can meet us at the facility if that is easier.  YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT BY REPLYING TO THIS EMAIL or by contacting Kathy Brasch at 425-788-8260 or email her at kb1@... by April 18th.   This is a fascinating facility and well worth a look.  Join us!


CONTINUING EDUCATION – LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!   You just have a few more days to sign up for the first Zone 1 continuing education classes for CERTs, which include:

-          Traffic Control (4/17/10)

-          FireWise classes (4/17/10)

-          Moulage (the make-up used for simulating injuries - 4/24/10)

-          Post-earthquake building inspection (5/1/10)

-          CERT Olympics to test your physical CERT skills (5/8); complete with FREE BBQ following the event.

Want to just help out with the CERT Olympics rather than compete?  You can help as a judge, communicator, victim, moulage artist, set-up or food assistant.  Join us on Thursday, April 15th at Fire Station # 82 in Sammamish at 7 p.m. to learn how you can be a part of this fun-filled event.  The Fire Station is located at 1851 228th Ave NE in Sammamish.  (Get directions from your location to Station #82 from this site: You are also welcome to come out & cheer with your families at the CERT Olympics which will be held at Tolt McDonald Park in Carnation from 9 am to 1 pm.  


MARINERS SALUTE TO VOLUNTEERS ON APRIL 20, 2010, AT 7 P.M.  Were you one of the 62 million Americans that volunteered their time last year? If so, the Seattle Mariners, the Washington Commission for National & Community Service, 710 ESPN Seattle, News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM and 770 KTTH want to thank you for your service at a special night just for volunteers.

PUT YOUR TRAFFIC CONTROL & HAM RADIO SKILLS TO WORK:  Duvall Days is just around the corner.  On June 5th we will be working with the Fun Run organizers to assist in traffic control and race course monitoring.  This is one big event where we can really use your help.  To sign up to work at this event please contact Bob Decker at  K7BD@... or 425.788.4345.  Glen Hair will also be providing traffic control information.
