WILDFIRE AWARENESS WEEK – 5/2 – 5/8 is Wildfire Awareness Week.  Check out this link for how you can get involved and why it's all important – how to reduce your risk of wildfire and non-burning options for yard waste!  Just go to

CERT OLYMPICS COMING TO TOLT-MCDONALD PARK:  Remember the skills you learned in CERT classes?  You have the opportunity to watch teams practice these skills in a local competition.  If you haven't signed up for a team in the CERT Olympics, you can still come out & cheer on the participating CERTs.  There were will be teams from Issaquah, Sammamish, Redmond & other surrounding areas competing.  Come join us on Saturday, May 8th from 10 a.m. to noon and cheer them on!

BRUSH UP YOUR CERT SKILLS:  Feeling a bit rusty on your CERT skills?  Here is the chance to blow the cobwebs off the skills you learned in CERT class.  On Saturday, May 15th from 9 a.m. to noon we will be holding a CERT Refresher Class, as taught by our favorite CERT instructor, Nancy Hovan-Carpenter.  We will meet at the Carnation Fire Station where you can work on triage, cribbing & preparedness.  Snacks provided.  Contact Kathy Brasch at 4256-788-8260 or kb1@... to register for this refresher.

HELP WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL - CITIZEN CORPS & DUVALL DAYS NEEDS YOU!:  Duvall Days is just around the corner, and once again CERT and SnoVARC will we will be working with the Fun Run organizers to assist in traffic control and race course monitoring on Saturday June 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  This is one big event where we can really use your help.  This is also a fundraiser for CDCCC, so it is critical that we have enough volunteers to cover the positions needed.  You DO NOT NEED TO BE A HAM radio operator to help with this run.  To sign up to work at this event please contact Bob Decker at  K7BD@... or 425.788.4345.  Please sign up TODAY!

MEDICAL RESPONSE IS THE KEY TO THE SPRING DRILL: On Saturday, June 12th the Carnation-Duvall Medical Reserve Corps will be mounting a medical response to a possible local earthquake as the focus of our Spring Drill.  CERTS are needed in support roles, and we need YOU to sign up as a volunteer.   Medical field treatment centers will be launched in Carnation, Duvall and the Ames Lake area: volunteers are needed at the Sno-Valley Senior Center in Carnation and across the river at Camp Gilead.  The drill begins at 9 a.m. and ends with lunch provided by the CDCCC at the Senior Center in Carnation at 11:30AM.  For those of you who have participated in our drills in the past these are fun and informative and MUCH NEEDED events.  To sign up to help at one of the treatment centers please contact Gene Laughlin at genelaughlin@... or call him at 425-844-9470.

SURVEY SAYS!  Thank you VERY MUCH to those of you who participated in our survey over the last couple weeks.  Your feedback, opinion and insight are very important to the success of our efforts.  We will take the next couple weeks to evaluate your input and publish results shortly thereafter.  We had approximately 80 respondents out of

about 350 we emailed…not as many as we'd hoped but statistically a very successful percentage.  Thank you once again for taking the time!

Future emails will include information on:
