Re: 1:1 Balun - Buy or Make?

Making Baluns is EASY, Unless this costs less than ~$10, you can just make it. I'm willing to show you (and anyone else) how to make these SIMPLE devices.

Nice! It uses ERAS ITC Bold font which is free to download. Everything is there except, as Kirt mentioned, the background mountains.

I don't think what I'm saying is much different from what you said, Robin - just equal and opposite. Your caution is not to underbuy, and I agree. My caution is not to overbuy. There's a place in the middle.

P.S. Not sure what engineering has to do with - I do have "engineer" in my title, but my degree is in math / theoretical compsci. I don't solder too much, but I can shift around Greek letters like a three card Monty dealer and make a Turing Machine squeal like bad brakes on a 73 Ford, lol.

For instance when I bought my KPA500 amp I didn’t spend the money on the one with more features that now I dearly wish I had. For my break during the holidays, I'm planning on getting my shack finally wired up and HF antenna created and strung. I'll be buying coax and probably some ladder line(exact type still unknown). I'm wondering if there are any others that also need cable and might be interested in participating in a bulk purchase?

Re: Coax cable bulk purchase?

Lindy KG7IFA

Hi Howard,

According to our financial records, there should be 150 ft available for purchase by members at $.30/ft from the bulk buy made by the club in 2016.  I've been carrying that on the books since 2016.  So unless the club ended up using that excess that had been purchased for member buy-back, it should still be available for you to get.  Check with Jim or Paul regarding what is in the shack. If it is no longer available, I need to know so that I move it off our books.

Thanks,

Lindy
