Radio recommendations
Dale Smith <dale_smith@...>
All,
I am trying to sort out what type of rig to buy next year. I expect to use 10/20/40/80M bands. I am looking for a solid rig without a lot of fancy bells and whistles I can use at home or in the field.
Recommendations please. :)

Interesting repeater info.
Thanks,

https://www.wwara.org/WWARA-rptrlist.pdf They update it daily and it is FREE!!!! I download it to PDF every month and make a printed copy for my SUV and the shack.
https://www.wwara.org/databaseAccess.php . Scroll down to the 7/11/16 update. The whole works is now available in CHIRP format. If you download the CSV version of the database it provides a zipped folder with the database and the CHIRP files.

ANyone looking for a new job?
Dale Smith <dale_smith@...>
I know some of our members are looking for a position in routing/switching/network services. Mark Moller at Kelly Services sent me the following and I wanted to pass it on.
Mark has a client, Legrand / Wattstopper, actively looking for a strong field services technician in the Seattle area. The position primarily will be working and troubleshooting at client sites in Seattle with some minimal travel in the Northwest to other clients, but for the most part, mostly remain in the Seattle area. They are looking for a strong field service candidate with strong troubleshooting for routers, HUBS, LAN lines, networking, etc. Ideally, they would also like someone with some programming and electronics background. Any control systems background would be a plus but is not required. The candidate will need to be used to being customer-facing and have experience with that since you will be visiting client sites.

Consider avoiding ics colors to avoid confusion. Yellow is probably your safest bet. Green, white, red, or blue should be avoided.

Just to confirm, the link below is one of the vests that Issaquah has available. It is a heavier material than the mesh, one-size-fits-all vests, which we distribute as part of the CERT course. The SR-4017A also has two, large pockets on the inside for gloves, and other items. It also has a shoulder strip to attach your speaker-mic. Personally, I like the mesh vest for warmer weather (40o+) and the SR-4017A for colder situations (I have both the SR-4017A and the mesh vest) . Bottom line, I think the extra $5 for the SR-4017A is a good buy.
FYI, Issaquah does have a set of vests for ICS, and those would likely be the SR-402XINSERT vests that PrepareSmart also sells. The ICS vests are light weight, and more for identification rather than CERT activities.
Hope this helps, Bob KI7RMO

Looked at their site and this is the closest comparison I saw. Would prefer buying from Keith as he has supported our groups and is local. Take a look and give me your thoughts.

Keith, CEO of Prepare , gave me a 20% discount code when I was buying items while in CERT class. I’ll look for it. Also if we have several folks that would like to buy from PrepareSmart we can place a single group order that Id be glad to pickup to save on shopping costs

Years ago we did a joint exercise with the Issaquah CERT group, and they had really nice vests with the clear pockets. Maybe someone could reach out to them and see what they are using?
