Rowland,
I'm the biggest proponent for knowing field programming you will find. When I looked at the number of radios I need to get ready giving in to software makes the most sense.

What Kathy and I do is have the programming steps printed out on a small card and attached to the radio.  Also have them in my cell phone.  RT systems is a great product and I have it for all my HTs.  However it does no good in the field if you have to program another simplex or repeater on the go.

There are listings for many of those procedures on the io site.

I just broke down and purchased the cable and software for programming 3 of my 5 types of HT radios. You sold me, Guys. It is like most things, a time vs money problem. This does not preclude me from learning to be a quick field programmer for all brands of radios I own. But, the goal is to be READY ASAP. And, there is a lot of other stuff I would rather do with my time.

Morning round table on Carnation Repeater 10am-11am

Paul Butzi (W7PFB)

The Carnation repeater has been running for five weeks. Before we set about adding enhancements we want to put it under some stress and make sure it performs well for QSO’s longer than just a few minutes.

And of course it’s always good to get club members on the air and talking to one another.

To pursue this double win, we’ll be starting a morning roundtable on the Carnation repeater, every morning at 10am local time. Like the morning round table on the Cougar repeater, this will be an everyone is welcome, no specific net control sort of thing. Turn on your radio between 10am and 11am, tune to the Carnation repeater at 441.850 positive shift tone 103.5 and join the chat. (If you can’t reach the Carnation repeater, try the Big Rock crossband at 145.750 simplex tone 103.5 which is connected to the Carnation repeater.)

I’ll try to at least show up most mornings. Hopefully others will, too.

-p W7PFB
73, Don’t forget to smile and have fun!

Icom Mobile for sale

For Sale. Icom dual band mobile 50 watts VHF/UHF from clean non-Covid home lightly used and just decided to standardize my equipment. I do not have piece to mount face to radio as it has always been used in remote head configuration. All the cables and power leads come with radio except coax. If no long winded negations take place I will add Larson dual band NMO mount antenna to the deal. No extra charge you get some of my preprogrammed channels that can be fixed with included programming cable via churp or other software. Asking $200 out the door.

Current is emphasized because there are orders out which will change things up. Seems like that’s always the case?
