Most importantly, ARRL needs to sell a lot of the FD gear they are heavily marketing. I like the green T-shirt and will probably buy one, even if I end up in my driveway.

Stay safe and stay on the air,

Re: Looking For Tap

Rowland

That is what is on the package the check valve was on.  it said 1/2" MPT which I took for the size of the tap.  What it meant was Male Pipe Thread.  It was a description of what was in the bag.  I meant to say NPT for the tap I was looking for.  Ben has loaned me one.

What happened was my hot water check valve was making noise which I believe means I am going to fail soon.  So I ordered two of them. One for cold in and one hot out.  I played hell getting them out as there was literally no room to work.  However with lots of straining and pleasant words expelled from my lips they both eventually came out.  The threads look OK but I want to run a tap down them to clean them before installing the check valves just to make sure of a good leak proof fit.

I will be doing that tomorrow so if you step outside and listen closely you might hear the thunder in my direction as I try to fit my hands back in there again.  In reaiity it should go better as I learned a few tricks removing them.

Thanks,

Rowland

Hi All,

I am looking to borrow a 1/2" MPT size thread  tap to clean out some threads on my RV water heater water connections.  Checked at Duvall hardware and they do not carry one.  Please let me know if someone has one I can use for about 30 minutes.

Thanks,

Rowland

INFO: Online social gathering Trial Run on Tuesday 3-31 @19:00

Howard E. Mahran / WA1HEM

Hello SnoVarcians,

For the trial run conference call/video session on Tuesday, March 31 at 19:00 below is a quick "how-to" for accessing the FreeConferenceCall.com session.

1) Have a decent internet connection (both up and downstream)
2) Use a browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc) and enter URL https://join.freeconferencecall.com/snovarc
3) Enter your Name and Callsign in the Name field ("Howard - WA1HEM") and an email address, then click "Join"
3a) For those that already have a FreeConferenceCall account, go to Join and enter "snovarc"
4) To use a Phone for Voice: Use the dial-in number displayed at the top of the screen and enter the sync code. You will speak and listen through your phone
4a) To use your PC with a speaker/headset and microphone: Click  the phone icon and then select "Mic and Speakers"
5) Click the video icon to turn on and off your video camera

Here is a very short 1 minute video to demonstrate what you'll see   https://youtu.be/G7SM38kRj4o

There might be some tweaks you will need to make to access the right speaker/headset and microphone on your PC. If they aren't correctly selected when you first log in, click the gear icon. You can choose the correct mic/speaker and video inputs from there. And Finally, there are several variables that can affect the quality of your session, so be patient and we will try to help you get up and running as best we can.

Looking forward to having a fun online rag-chew!

Let me know if you have any questions.

73,

Howard - WA1HEM

Conference call items

Tom WA7TBP

All of you that are trying to figure out what conference call software to use, thank you for your time and effort. As a favor to me and the club, please do not set up any new accounts. I would like to have a club officer meeting later to discuss which software set we will use. I don't want you to spend a lot of time on something that we may or may not use. I understand that at present, we have several options available to us. For the two conference call events we are going to experience, we are going to try Free Conference Call software. After we have these two sessions, a social gathering and the actual meeting, we can then discuss which software suite we thing will be most suitable for SNOVARC.

Again, thank you for your time and efforts thus far. As Red Green (from the Red Green Show on TV) used to say, "we are all in this together."

Tom, WA7TBP

Re: Upcoming business meeting and using video conferencing software

Howard E. Mahran / WA1HEM

Thanks Tom. I’ll be sending out details on Groups.io about how what you need and how to get on the conference call in the next day. Just to clarify, this is not *my* software but rather conference call software that I have used and trusted for years. FreeConferenceCall.com  provides free conference calling services to not-for-profits, students, etc. Their model is supported by donations and small telephone fees that they get directly from phone companies. We can use their service for free or contribute a payment if we are able and capable, but it's not necessary. T

Expect the instructions shortly. Hope everyone is staying well.

a virus free 73 to all,

Howard

Hello everyone:

I hope all of your all well and finding ways to keep happy staying at home. After conferring with many of you, and listening to the success of other ham radio clubs, I talked with Howard about holding our April 2 meeting with conference call software.

Howard has graciously offered to let us try out his conference call software to do this meeting. He will be sending out a separate e-mail with instructions of how to connect up and use the software. To prepare the club for the use of the software, Howard will host a social gathering on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 PM, using the conference call software. During this gathering, you will have a chance to connect up and make sure that you are all set up to actually participate in our meeting on April 2. During the social gathering, I will monitor the Cougar Mountain repeater in case you have an issue and can not connect to the conference call. If you run into a problem, call me on the repeater, and I will advise Howard of the problem to see if it is easily resolved during the social gathering.

Thank you to all of you for your patience with the issues we had with cancelling two meetings The first was weather related, and the second was the closure of the public meeting spaces. I trust we will have an excellent chance to test our flexibility in dealing with these life emergencies. Hams are supposed to be good at making things work when the normal means are not available. Let us treat this as a learning experience and have some fun with it.

Looking forward to hearing and seeing you during the social gathering on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 PM then again for the April 2 business meeting, 6:15 PM, both using the conference call software.

Wash your hands, stay safe, be flexible.

Hi Robin,
I hope you and your family are doing well.

I am launching a new offer for radio-clubs. It can be extended to any group of operators in the US: They may now combine QSL Cards and/or Eyeball Cards orders and save.

We still do free layout design, and free shipping (within contiguous US).

Feel free to check the attached Pdf file for details.
Do not hesitate to share it with your local radio-club, or any HAM radio operator in the country.

Stay Safe!
